The developers of Ultimate Unwrap 3D have released version 3.50 of the Windows-only UV unwrapping tool.

Commonly used in the indie games and modding community, Ultimate Unwrap 3D unwraps models in a range of standard 3D file formats and the native formats of a range of games.

The latest update adds support for the ABF (Angle-Based Flattening) UV unwrapping algorithm, also used in many 3D packages; and support for SketchUp 2014.

The Standard edition costs $49.95; the Pro edition – which features the new ABF tools – costs $59.95.

Updated 13 January 2015: A 64-bit version of Ultimate Unwrap 3D Pro has been released, making it possible to make use of more that 4GB RAM when working on large assets. The upgrade is free to qualifying users.

The Standard edition of the software remains 32-bit-only.

There have also been a number of smaller updates since we posted the original story: mainly maintenance releases, but there is a new Flip Handedness tool, and the option to limit texture size.

Updated 6 January 2017: Ultimate Unwrap 3D 3.50.22 is out.

Fragmotion

The software is updated regularly – usually every month or two – so we don’t often cover the new builds, but we thought this one was worth a mention for the new Heal UVs tool it adds.

Other features added to Ultimate Unwrap 3D since we last wrote about it include a new Repaint Mesh UVs tool for repainting textures between two meshes, and support for 16-bit PSD files.
